David McAtee was a chef and a West Louisville business owner. He fed his community for about 30 years before he was murdered by the LMPD and the National Guard on June 1, 2020. His body was left on the scene for nearly 12 hours while his family and protestors kept vigil across the street.

Racism against black people is SYSTEMIC and as a result protestors cannot be asked to play by the rules of a system that has already failed them. Black people are/have been respectful & peaceful but are treated with violence regardless and that IS the problem. People are fighting for their LIVES and if your response is still "yeah, but" then maybe you should reconsider.

Dr. Martin Luther King understood that riots were a symptom of people not feeling heard. When people compare Dr. King’s protest to any other protest that has happened, they really glamorize what happened to the Black community during the Civil Rights movement.
